How to manage your society events and make your meetings stand out from the rest

This session will look at how you can maximise the potential for your society events. Emma will look at the key elements the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) focus on when developing and delivering stand out events to its members and stakeholders. She will provide some take home hints and tips used by the RCR and other organisation for increasing interactivity and engagement in events and training. You will hear real life examples of customer service excellent and its importance in events delivery.

(Speaker in 2019) Emma has worked in the event industry for not-for-profit organisations and membership bodies for the last 20 years and she is responsible for the strategy and day-to-day operations of the Conference and Programmes function at the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR). She currently manages a team of four event professionals who deliver a range of PLD activities for radiologists and oncologists across the world. The College delivers face to face conferences, workshops, soft skills training courses, webinars, eLearning modules and are in the process of developing exam preparation courses overseas and examiner training sessions. The College regards it as important to continue to develop and enhance this offering to ensure that members and Fellows are provided with the high-quality CPD opportunities they need, as well as ensuring that the RCR is the recognised provider of their requirements. The annual conference is a key area of responsibility, one which has doubled in size in the past 3 years. Attracting over 800 delegates a year, this 3-day flagship event offers lectures, workshops, social activities, networking and an industry exhibition. Outside of her role at the College Emma provides artist liaison services for various festivals and live events.
