Society Street 2020 (March): Welcome and Keynotes: Change!
The topic of this talk was decided months before COVID-19 hit: how can Learned Societies cope with change and adapt? By the end of March 2020 COVID-19 had been declared a pandemic and our speakers, Cindy and Mary, pivoted the content of their talks to address just this.

This session brings together society leaders who were briefed several weeks ago to consider what Global / Local means to the activities of their societies (membership, meetings, education, professional development, publishing).

Advocating is an increasingly important – and relevant – part of a society’s activities. As mission-based organizations, advocacy – and sometimes lobbying – is core to a society. What should societies be doing now? How should they be advocating for their communities in today’s environment?
